Merrilily's summary: A mission gone wrong leaves Sheppard and McKay close to death, and the Atlantis crew have no choice but to thrust them into stasis until they can figure out how to heal them. Under normal circumstances, the stasis unit would have kept them unconscious and asleep. However, Rodney had previously (and secretly) created a VE world and linked it to the chamber, so instead of sleeping, they’re awake, aware of each other, and stuck.
