01967 | One of the very few ficlets about Avatar: Last Airbender that I really like. It touches a bit deeper than the run of the mill fluff but still makes me smile: Aang is out looking for food with Zuko and discovers that a little research can go a long way. Set right after Zuko joins the gaang. Hint of Zukaang fluff. If you squint. |

Sherlock Holmes |
Pairing: |
Mycroft/Lestrade |
Submitted by: |

Rec ID: |
02100 | (BBC version) This series is a more realistical take on how two men like Mycroft Holmes and DI Gregory Lestrade may arrive in a relationship. Beware! randomly_rusted presents no sweet fairytale but two beautifully characterized, flawed personalities that clash quite a few times, before they find themselves drawn to each other.
The link goes to the index of stories of the series. I recommend reading them all. |

X-men |
Pairing: |
Erik/Charles |
Submitted by: |
Thaia |
Rec ID: |
02113 | Based on the following prompts:
Prompt 1: This is an odd request, but I_d like a fill where Erik and Charles go on to be important mutant advocates (in their own very different ways), but while they know of each other, they_ve never actually met.
Cue them eventually meeting at some big function celebrating a mutant legislative victory (or something). They hit it right off and skip out on the celebration/rally in order to play chess and have long discussions. In other words, they fall in love...
And
Prompt 2: I want an AU where a moderately less crazy than usual Erik meets Charles after he has already been paralyzed, and is still interested. Charles is completely paraplegic, no feeling or function below the injury at all. Which is particularly annoying, since he can hear what everyone is thinking about him. But he deals, because he_s cool like that.
Erik has been traveling all over the world being scary and raaar, and he_s intrigued that this little physically vulnerable guy isn_t afraid of him at all. Love ensues. |

And Magneto, turned human against his will, is in despair until the day he feels a familiar consciousness tugging at his own --
Set after X-3 (with much desperate fix-it applied), during XMFC, and every time in between. |

Has no one ever wondered about this?
Thorin and the Company learn that it takes more than luck to be small in a big world.
OR - Bilbo has unexpected skills and Thorin finds he likes them.

This is such an interesting idea and well written.

02193 | Author Summary: Bilbo Baggins arrived home late one afternoon in the middle of the week and the entire west Farthing is still talking about it.
Poor Mister Baggins. He was doomed to be a nine-days wonder no matter what and is it any wonder after a year-long adventure? Even the Tooks haven_t the influence to hush that up, but Mad Baggins seems to have managed to silence every tongue in the Shire on that subject which would be awe-inspiring ...if not for the way he decided to go about it.
OR: That one where Middle Earth seems to be unclear about where baby Hobbits come from.
This was written before The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
A fun way to avoid mpreg! Great and somehow fitting for Hobbits. |

02194 | Author Summary: Bilbo Baggins was not a particularly talented Guide. He knew that. His family knew that. Every last Hobbit in the four Farthings and Bree knew that.
But that meant nothing when one morning an agony that wasn_t Bilbo_s ripped right through him, dropping him to his knees with a scream. Wrapped up in the pain there was a presence. Someone fierce and determined, nestling himself in the blank space in Bilbo_s mind for the barest of moments before he slipped away. It was like fingertips brushing across the outside fringe of his soul, and Bilbo wanted it back. Wanted him back.
And so help him, Bilbo was going to find him. His Sentinel.
Quite well written. |

Bilbo/Thorin |

02197 | Author Summary: Hobbits didn_t have such things as courting rituals – they were uncomplicated folk. They announced their affections with flowers or a cooked meal, a shared pipe or simply a kiss – and then there were meetings with both families and a date set for the wedding.
Dwarves, as he kept discovering, were a completely different kettle of fish.
This is such a beautifully slow burn, well composed and believable. It always makes me smile. |
