Burning Paper Houses by SatisfyAnEmptyInside

Author's summary: The best thing about dating one of the popular girls? Getting to know her younger brother.

A sweet story in high school setting about a rebellious out-of-closet boy and the guy his sister is wooing. The main characters are likable, especially Javier, the rebel, whom the author has managed to portray as both mature and innocent. This story has its moments of humour and angst, the dialogue is pretty witty, the relationship is in many ways subtle, and the plot brings in real life complications like homophobia and family rejection. One of the most brilliant i've seen in a long time :)

The story takes off right after HBP, in the lull before Harry goes off on his quest or something. Canon pairings, others het and/or slash to follow, but it doesn't really matter, you HAVE to read it.

And here's something about Maya, it's not the plots you're looking for (because you can't comprehend the intricacies of them anyway), it's the characters, and the dialogue. Her characterisation is impeccable, her characters are more likable than the originals (to me, anyway), and you've never seen wit until you've read her. Really.
