01175 | | Though, at the beginning the plot seems to be cliché (Reid gets kidnapped) you cannot say that the fic is. It's, to put it simply, brilliant. The way the Reid/Gideon relationship is portrayed really moves something inside of you, plus, you get some excellent characterization, drama, angst, romance and excitement. I must have read it 20 times already and I still want more. I’m still silently hoping that the author will grace us with a sequel one of those days. |

01629 | This is an unusual but captivating AU fic
The writer creates a society in which people known as Sera can be enslaved supposedly for protection against themselves but in reality they are used and abused by the government. Reid is one of these Sera, possessing the ability to take on the mental characteristics of killers; he is used by the FBI to help catch murderers. Hotch steps in to help Reid but is himself dealing with past issues which are now only coming to light.
It’s a complex story that promises to be very long but well worth it. She deals with complex issues of insanity, self-harm, slavery and abuse with compassion while allowing her characters to heal slowly. She swaps between Reid and Hotch’s point of view which allows the reader an interesting perspective into the minds of both the characters, seeing their misunderstandings, fears and hopes as they try to connect to each other.
While it is primarily a hurt/comfort slavefic, it appears to be moving slowly towards elements of consensual bdsm and even an interesting case on the horizon. It’s a wonderful story with a flowing poetic style of writing. In the words of one commenter...there is something about this story that just enchants the reader. I keep coming back to it, thinking it, reading it again and again.
