This is just a short, almost-gen mood piece, but that doesn't stop it from being the best fic I've read in this pairing, one that works beautifully but isn't written much. Destina has expressed the conflicting elements of Stark's character in one very well-written page, and I can totally see him feeling that way about John in canon.
