02192 | Hobbits always survive; even where trained and experienced soldiers don_t.
Has no one ever wondered about this?
Thorin and the Company learn that it takes more than luck to be small in a big world.
OR - Bilbo has unexpected skills and Thorin finds he likes them.
This is set after The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey.
This is such an interesting idea and well written.
PS: The title is part of a latin quote: Si vis pacem, para bellum - you want peace, prepare for war. |

02193 | Author Summary: Bilbo Baggins arrived home late one afternoon in the middle of the week and the entire west Farthing is still talking about it.
Poor Mister Baggins. He was doomed to be a nine-days wonder no matter what and is it any wonder after a year-long adventure? Even the Tooks haven_t the influence to hush that up, but Mad Baggins seems to have managed to silence every tongue in the Shire on that subject which would be awe-inspiring ...if not for the way he decided to go about it.
OR: That one where Middle Earth seems to be unclear about where baby Hobbits come from.
This was written before The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
A fun way to avoid mpreg! Great and somehow fitting for Hobbits. |

02194 | Author Summary: Bilbo Baggins was not a particularly talented Guide. He knew that. His family knew that. Every last Hobbit in the four Farthings and Bree knew that.
But that meant nothing when one morning an agony that wasn_t Bilbo_s ripped right through him, dropping him to his knees with a scream. Wrapped up in the pain there was a presence. Someone fierce and determined, nestling himself in the blank space in Bilbo_s mind for the barest of moments before he slipped away. It was like fingertips brushing across the outside fringe of his soul, and Bilbo wanted it back. Wanted him back.
And so help him, Bilbo was going to find him. His Sentinel.
Quite well written. |

02196 | Author Summary: "Even the smallest person can change the course of the future." - Galadriel
In an attempt to get the Arkenstone back for Thorin, Bilbo discovers the ring he_s been using is the One Ring. Seized by a need to destroy gold, especially gold with the ability to ensnare creature and king alike, he sets out alone for Mordor. Anything to forget about the love that gold cost him.
What he doesn_t know is that Thorin is no longer under the thrall of gold, and is desperately racing to catch up with him to keep him safe.
They may have just started on another adventure, but this one may not end as well as their first quest.
This story was written before The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. |

02197 | Author Summary: Hobbits didn_t have such things as courting rituals – they were uncomplicated folk. They announced their affections with flowers or a cooked meal, a shared pipe or simply a kiss – and then there were meetings with both families and a date set for the wedding.
Dwarves, as he kept discovering, were a completely different kettle of fish.
This is such a beautifully slow burn, well composed and believable. It always makes me smile. |

02209 | Author*s Summary:
It wasnt so strange that Thranduil would call him a friend. And yet the word seemed to draw them closer like a length of string, binding them together, yet still so fragile.
[In which Thranduil and Bard begin writing each other letters over the long winter after the battle.]
Well written and believable. A slow burn. |

02210 | Author*s Summary:
Thranduil did not seem the type to try to keep friends. Yet Bard could scarcely go a day without being summoned to the Elvenking*s tent, to finalize every trade and tax agreement between their two realms for the next five hundred years.
[With the first winter quickly closing in on Dale, Bard and Thranduil have very different ideas on what it means to be a leader.]
I love this piece because I can see their relationship growing exactly like this. The story takes place directly after the final Hobbit movie (The Battle of the Five Armies). Bard is new to being a king, but Thranduil has ruled for thousands of years. They have vastly different backgrounds and different views on what is important in a leader.
Rated G. This is a friendship story ... or is it pre-slash? The author promises to continue the arc, and says she sees the possibility of romance blooming in future installments. Let*s all keep our fingers crossed!
